Sometimes you really need a tomato sauce and you don’t have one. Maybe you made calzones or mozzarella sticks. It’s tempting to just pick some up at the store but if you want to save some money or if you just don’t want to go to the store, it’s easy to make a tasty tomato sauce at home.
Everyone needs a good tomato sauce recipe. This red wine tomato sauce one is my favorite since it can be used for anything from pastas to dips and even on pizza. I think pizza is probably my favorite application of tomato sauce….and cheese…and bread.
Wow, things have been busy here. I’ve been working full time, I had two tests since I last posted, and I visited my sister in Atlanta. Whew. Luckily, it’s the weekend and I’ve FINALLY had time to make something worthy of posting. Pretzels! Since I’ve been so bad about posting, I also included a recipe for beer cheese dip to use with these delicious honey wheat bagels.
This sauce makes a great dipping sauce for spring rolls or a sauce to go on meats, stir fry, veggies, or even pasta. It’s very versatile and has an Asian flavor to it. Try it with whatever your making next time that’s Asian themed and it’ll really bring the whole dish up a level. My boyfriend asked me for the secret ingredient. You know it’s good when the boyfriend asks why it’s so delicious.
One night, I was talking on the phone with my sister and I was describing the best guacamole I had made to date. It was awesome and I was talking on the phone with my sister (who is super awesome). My night was going well. As I was describing to her how incredible it tasted, she asked, “Did you add cream cheese to it?”
