Mac and Cheese

My boyfriend is away this week house sitting for some friends. Normally when he’s gone for an evening working at the hospital or out with friends, I like the time to catch up on my girly shows and eat whatever I want. But a whole week?! We’ve done long distance before (1 1/2 years total between study abroad and school schedules not matching up), but it’s never fun. When I was deciding what to make this week for dinner,

Miso Soup

As you may have guessed, I’m REALLY picky.  I pretty much assume anything I don’t like must be gross.  Typically, I’m wrong.  The most egregious error I’ve made due to my pickiness was assuming that all soups were gross.

Jalapeno Cornbread Muffins

This week has been rough. I got summoned for jury duty and then selected, I had a midterm exam for one of my classes, I got behind on blogging, and I had a few things happen in my personal life that added some stress. Sometimes life is rough. But on this Saturday morning, I’m feeling better.

Green Smoothies and my first GIVEAWAY

When Hilary Greenleaf sent me an email asking if I wanted to talk about green smoothies and her new book “The Green Smoothie Diet,” my first thought was “No way, smoothies with spinach are definitely no good.”  For some reason, I decided to reply and say, “Let me check out your book first.”

Georgian Khachapuri (Cheese Muffins)

I’ve been having a bad cooking streak. I forgot sugar in my past 2 recipes! I was feeling down, and I didn’t really want to cook again. I knew that if I didn’t make something I loved that I’d be feeling rejected all week. So when I was thinking of something new to make, I went for an old favorite. This recipe is delicious and so comforting.

Guacamole

One night, I was talking on the phone with my sister and I was describing the best guacamole I had made to date.  It was awesome and I was talking on the phone with my sister (who is super awesome).  My night was going well.  As I was describing to her how incredible it tasted, she asked, “Did you add cream cheese to it?”

Party Nachos

I love nachos, but I hate when they get soggy.  It’s like all the delicious toppings become too much for the chip and it ends up just being kinda gross.  I also never understood why people think that nachos make such great appetizers.
